Is Hawk-Eye a farce?

Posted by tennisplanet on June 11, 2007

Nadal was right when he challenged the Hawk-Eye earlier in the year saying “Lets see the results on clay”.

On clay this year, there were numerous calls which the Hawk-Eye called out, but when the umpire came down and looked at the mark, called it in.

So somebody is losing the points and maybe matches, or even championships. Courtesy: Fake-Eye.

FIX the freaking eye!!!!!!!!

What Federer can learn from the tumultous past four months.

Posted by tennisplanet on June 11, 2007

You cannot just shrug off the losses and the disappointments of the past four months, and move on as if nothing happened.

There are invaluable lessons to be learnt and precious feedback to be had, from whatever happened on and off the court.

Did you know that 90 percent of the time, an aircraft is off course? On-board computer constantly sends feedback to the pilot, to urge him to make the required correction, to enable the flight reach its destination, in the shortest possible time.

If the pilot ignores the feedback, everyone is in trouble.

Here is some of what should get Federer’s attention, immediately, to take remedial action to correct course.

1. If you take an x-ray of each tennis player on the tour, you will find a varied set of tennis abilities. They are there, partly due to the natural talent / propensity of the player, and partly due to the work put in to develop a certain facet of his game.

I discussed this in detail few days ago. If you were freaking busy watching porn, click here.

Every player has this unique set of abilities, tangible and intangible, that is able to generate a distinctly different performance on the court. Like our fingerprint. No one can really recreate it just like it.

There is a reason why no one has been able to duplicate Federer’s game, despite the best tennis minds working as coaches and trainers at various tennis academies around the world. Who wouldn’t like to clone Federer’s game?

Despite the obvious edge Nadal has over Federer, can anyone really recreate a perfect replica of his game to beat Federer? There is a reason why nobody has even attempted.

The freaking point is this: Federer has to play his natural game and impose his strengths to exploit the opponent’s, well, Nadal’s weaknesses. If you have read my previous article, then you know that he cannot step out of that circle.

You cannot run around the shot, to use your forehand, when every freaking ball is coming on your backhand. That’s like playing two matches at the same time. No wonder he is out of Germany due to fatigue, since he expended twice as much energy running around the shot, to use his forehand.

That violated his entire game and what was the consequence? The decline of his most potent weapon – forehand- and the rapid rise of unforced errors.

It clearly showed that Federer had no set strategy to execute. He was ‘winging’ it. There was no plan A and plan B for back up. When his plan A failed, he went berserk and winged it.

You cannot hire some lefty temporarily and hope to entirely change the syntax of your game, overnight. Any change of that drastic a nature, which is not in consonance with the rest of your natural game, requires immense time and discipline to incorporate, specially this late in the career.

2. What do you read into what he said after the match “We are both mentally so tough that it comes down to physical fitness”.

Is that supposed to be a secret?

Every freaking cucumber on the planet knows that. The question is, what did you do about it, for the last four freaking months? If you are fatigued after that match, and are forced to withdraw from your next commitment, it appears nothing much was done.

Specially when Nadal, having played many more hours, is ready and still going.

This aspect of the game, will become even more of an issue, as you pass your 26th birthday in two months.

Federer has to realize, first and foremost, before any freaking thing – that he is on the decline. If he continues to be in denial, it will rob him of all the opporutnities he has, NOW, to take corrective action.

There is a huge difference in the effectiveness of your ability to attack the problem from those two platforms – denial or acceptance.

If you continue in denial, it’s like shooting yourself in the foot and sabotaging your own progress.

3. You don’t try to reinvent the wheel!!!!!!!!

Every freaking player who has ever lived, has had a coach, to not just point out the intricacies of the game, but also provide many intangibles that are impossible to come by, on your own. If you need all that can be achieved, by having a worthy full-time coach, click here.

Again, every freaking cucumber can tell you that!!!!!!!

With the background of the last four months rolling with him on to the grass courts, it is crunch time for Federer, now. Any damage here, will be irreversible, both to the forehand and the matter between the ears.

Federer withdraws from Halle, Germany.

Posted by tennisplanet on June 11, 2007

That has been his usual grass-court warm up for Wimbledon.

Reason: Fatigue.

Are you freaking kidding me!!!!!!!!!!

You have played half as many hours as Nadal at the clay court season? And he is on to honor his commitment on grass on Wednesday.

“In an attempt to prevent injury after the long final in Paris, I cannot defend my title at the Gerry Weber Open in Halle,” Federer said in a brief statement on his Web site.

Roddick adds humor to his quest for Wimbledon title.

Posted by tennisplanet on June 11, 2007

I have been crying about it for too long. This is what Federer should have resorted to, after the loss yesterday, instead of answering ‘Nadal’ to every freaking question.

Here is what Roddick had to say about Wimbledon and Roland Garros at a recent interview.

On his record against Federer “I’m coming in very strong 1 to 13 against Federer”.

On being asked “Do lesser men win on clay?” Roddick replied “That’s what I always tell people.”
