Federer’s GOAT debate vs his latest remarks / performance.

Posted by tennisplanet on June 18, 2007

Here are some recent quotes. Do they point to something or will all be normal within the next 14 days?

“People often ask me if Roger is the greatest player of all time,” wrote the great Rod Laver in Time magazine. “Let’s wait until the end of his career before making the ‘best ever’ judgment. One thing is for sure, he is the best player of his time and one of the most admirable champions on the planet.”

“I feel comfortable at Wimbledon but many forget I had a few first-round losses,” Federer said. “I don’t feel like nobody can beat me and I think that is the right approach to have. It is wrong to underestimate other players.

“In my first match here in juniors, I was so nervous you wouldn’t believe it. I couldn’t serve, I couldn’t play from the baseline. It is the biggest tournament in the world in my eyes, but it can also be very intimidating.”

“During the match I thought I could win,” said Moya, implying Federer’s aura of invincibility had slipped.

“He’s been untouchable for 3 1/2 years,” McEnroe said. “No one on the planet could even taste the prospect of challenging him as the No. 1 player. But now you have Rafael Nadal, who is playing even more aggressively than in the past, and youngsters like Novak Djokovic moving up the ranks. For the first time, it seems that Federer is aware he is vulnerable.”

“I don’t know what’s wrong. I have to analyze it myself,” Federer said after the loss to Volandri.

The rumblings are getting louder and more widespread, and are certainly not helping Federer, specially now when he is down and out.

Is this the time when he will turn it around, or are we eventually going to get tired of saying it over and over again?

Have you ever been to an ATP tournament in person?

Posted by tennisplanet on June 18, 2007

Everyone of them I have attended so far, I have to periodically pinch myself, to constantly reaffirm, that I am not at a senior citizen center, but at a tennis event.

I cannot remember one freaking event, when someone did not faint or whatever and needed medical assistance for heat, dehydration, heart attack, whatfreakingever!!!!

You feel you are the odd one out, with the smell of bengay as the perfume, to numb your senses.

And then this has happened to him at least 80% of the time: The old hag next to me, makes a freaking move on me!!!!!!!!!! With her old man sitting right next to her!!!!!!!!!!! Are you freaking kidding me!!!!!!!!!!

She would start with moving her leg gradually and resting it on mine. First couple of times, I moved my leg away, thinking it was an accident. But I was being followed. I am your freaking grandson’s age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then it would start with the elbow. She would deliberately remove her shirt to make sure she has a skin on skin experience with me. I have to admit, after resisting it for a while, I gave in, and did experience a conflicting and perplexing erection.

Her man has no freaking idea what’s going on, specially with the elbow and forearm sex. Once, she ‘accidentally’ moved her hand on my thigh, when her dude stood up to cheer the point. By now, I am having a full blown, throbbing erection. I haven’t prayed harder for spectacular plays, so the dude would get up and cheer, while I have my own spectacular play.

Hey, tennis and free sex is not a bad combination!!!!!!!!! Why do you think I like tennis so much? I save up all the pennies to buy tickets at every freaking event. I only wish they had private boxes with dim lights for fuller enjoyment.

Now I wear loose thin clothing to enjoy tennis to the fullest. I never miss to take a cap with me for cover, for times, when it gets too much, and I have to get up and seek release in the restroom.

I never had luck with younger sexy females, inside or outside the tennis event. Hey, maybe I am simply irresistible to older hags only. Not everyone can say that.

What are you trying to say? Don’t freaking @#$ with me!!!!!!!!!!

Federer needs to study Blake’s game.

Posted by tennisplanet on June 18, 2007

It appears more and more, that the reason Nadal has a winning record against Federer, is gradually shifting, from ‘being dominant on clay’ to something else.

I feel, that it is his strategy that frustrates Federer more, in the recent matches, than the surface. If you look at the history of their 12 encounters, you will notice a ‘cast in stone’ strategy employed by Nadal against Federer.

It’s just, that it becomes more difficult to handle on the red surface. That’s all. Federer still has problems with it, even on his favorite surface – grass. Last year’s Wimbledon final is ample evidence.

No one, not even the grass court specialists, were able to take a set off Federer, leave alone take him to a tie-break. Nadal achieved both, being a novice on that surface, and fighting nerves, being in the finals there, first time ever.

Federer needs to closely study James Blake’s game, who has a 3-0 H2H advantage against Nadal. He is obviously in possession of the antidote. And it’s hardly a secret.

Just two more warm up events left. Is Federer coming out or what?

Posted by tennisplanet on June 18, 2007

Wimbledon is almost a week away and Federer has not stepped on the grass court yet.

With just two more events remaining, this is the last chance.

If he does not show up, there has to be something seriously wrong with him. He should let everyone, at least his fans, know what the @#$% is going on.

We can only conjecture based on the information we have. It appears the FO final did more damage than we thought.

We know he has had problems with the adductor muscle, the fatigue and the emotional let down, since that final against Nadal. Unless any of these have aggravated intensely, there is no reason to believe that should keep him in.

One thing is for sure. Everything is not all OK, and I will go out on a limb here, and predict, that there appears to be a good chance, he may not be able to compete at Wimbledon, without jeopardizing the rest of the season.

Hope everything is OK, since we don’t want to miss ‘history in the making’.

Federer – Do you think it’s cool to fornicate?

Posted by tennisplanet on June 18, 2007

As the biggest star of tennis, I think you are setting a bad example by your open fornication.

The purpose of dating, is to give yourself time to find out, if the person is a good match for you, for marriage. Most experts agree, for a period of upto two years, as more than enough time, to figure that out.

No matter which religion you follow, none of them encourage or allow fornication.

You have been with Mirka now for almost eight years. It is clearly unacceptable, no matter how you slice it. It sends a wrong signal to the younger generation, that to live and have sex with a girl before marriage is OK – for eight freaking years!!!!!!!!

What are you thinking? If you want her as a manager only, then make that decision. The stigma of shacking up with a girl friend or boy friend has vanished, but that doesn’t make it right.

If you profess to be such an upright person, how can you participate in such a bad practice, openly.

Mirka, you should know, you are the reason, we men, continue to abuse and treat women with disrespect and indignity. What do they say - ‘If you can buy the milk, why buy the cow’.

Have some self respect and self esteem, and demand that you be treated like a woman with respect, and not like an ‘unpaid whore’. This is open abuse.

Federer, what are you planning? You need ten years to decide if she is the right one? You mean, there is a possibility, that after all she has done for you, you could still turn around and not marry her?

End the shameful relationship and legitimize the union to right the ship, NOW.
