There was this 92-year old world class piano player. I am forgetting the name. He was the best. He had become so old that he walked with a stoop, barely dragging himself, his hands were hit hard with arthritis, his back was weak and painful. He had problems breathing and was hooked on to those oxygen tanks. Are you getting the picture? You don’t want me to go on, trust me.
But everyday he had this ritual at 10.00 am. He would go to his beloved piano and play his favorite songs. The people around him were astounded every time he sat on that stool to play.
His back straightened, his breathing turned normal, his face lit up, his arthritic-laden clenched hands opened up and started racing on the keyboard like a 20-year old’s. The music he produced was out of the world. It’s as if he turned the clock and reverted back to his hey days as a renowned piano player.
Don’t you think, this is enough evidence for us to pick our passion and run with it, instead of getting stuck with what we hate? Don’t compromise, do what you love. Money will never be a concern then.
Life’s too short. Don’t waste a minute doing what you are not absolutely nuts about. Take the risk.
Like I read somewhere: ‘They took me to the edge of a mountain and asked me to jump. I said I am scared. The voice said again, jump. I repeated, I can’t I am scared. Then they pushed me and I flew”.
