Breaking News!
Roger Federer has just won the BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year for the 3rd year running, the only other person to do so was Muhammad Ali! Roger couldn’t make an appearance to accept his award, because he’s training already! Boris Becker collected it on his behalf.
Congratulations Roger!!!

Fantastic result and so deserved.Delighted that my 2nd favourite athlete presented the award but just wish Roger had been there to accept it.Strange he didnt send a pre recorded message…I wonder is he really in training and dosent want anyone to know where, or is it a PR bluff to make the competition nervous? With a heavier schedule in 2008 I thought he would get as much rest as possible.Could he be trying out a new coach???

Yes, a worthy award for a worthy champion. Congratulations! As to what Roger is doing, I guess he knows what he has to do and where he needs to be. But he certainly had somebody great to receive the award on his behalf: Boris Becker! He, too, was an inspiring and great player. I really always preferred him over Sampras in his style and execution.

Apparently, Roger is not training right now: he is relaxing at the beach with Mirka! This is a message by Roger posted on his website today:
“Right now I am still enjoying a very relaxing beach-holiday together with Mirka in order to recharge my batteries. I’ll be returning home in a few days before taking up serious training again!”

How funny Adrian and good for him! The BBC’s Sue Barker got that one wrong – he has sent a pre-recorded message in the past.
