Thanks TP. Roger looks great, I like the outfit I think the shoes are in keeping with the outfit.

    Any chance of Fena’s pic?

Roger looked SO good carrying the Swiss flag. (The shoes, BTW, were the shoes that all of the Swiss delagation wore).

I wish him the very best ,as well as:

    Happy birthday to you
    Happy birthday to you
    Happy birthday dear Roger
    Happy birthday to you

Hee hee. First, TP, as you no doubt see, the shoes are team uniform. (You should get a gander at what the Spanish team is wearing on their feet. And if he had on something different than the rest of the team, people would be fussing about how this is “just like him not staying in the Olympic Village”.)

Second? Trust me. If the “Sky King” is featured on the wide screen, the feet — unless Rogi is actually playing a match — are generally not the first place the eye of the true connoisseur is going to go.

    Hee.

Those are terrible shoes, not to mention the clothes. i mean boardshorts at the olympics?!!! Come on!! The swiss really didn’t impress me, they really could have done better. The classy suits of the italians, uruguyans, and mexicans, and the colourful robes of the ghanains and malians were way better. Plus Fernando Gonzalez looked so cool in his traditional Chilean garb!

the entire Swiss delegation is wearing the same shoes!
the shoes have the Swiss emblem on them.

they’re a bit fugly but practical: cool, comfortable, lightweight & easy to fit.

No kidding. I am Swiss and am ashamed at the “uniforms” picked out for the Swiss Team. You would think that a country known for their banks and money could afford better attire!

WHOA!! … HOLY SH*T!!(pardon my French) … that Opening Ceremony was MIND-BOGGLING!! … MESMERIZING!! … SPECTACULAR!!

Congratulations China, well done! And London, you’ve got a tough act to follow!

    LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!

I thought the Swiss teams outfits were cool.Very smart/casual.
Did you note the roar from the crowd when he came in? Guess the chinese love him as well! Maybe the fact it was his birthday yesterday on their luckiest of days will bode well for him this time.
In case BBC not showing all his matches, does anyone have online sites to log on to?

Nothing much. It’s just part of the uniform, equal for all.

Every now and again, Federer – a wise man – feels the need to expand his horizons. These shoes are from a charity shop, that source of many things good and true.

    LOL.
We’re very greedy people, haven’t you heard? Hence the amount of banks and millionaires in Switzerland.

Nothing to write or gripe about?

    Right on, Ron!

TP, sweetie, you probably had your t.v. set on the wrong station. You must have been watching “Project Runway.”

My personal take on the Opening Ceremonies: tons of Chinese people on the field, LOTS of color, LOTS of movement (I had to take a dramamine (seriously), and enough smoke from the fireworks that I’m sure it helped “clear the air.”

IMHO, Nothing can ever take the place of the lighting of the Olympic Flame in Barcelona: A solitary archer in the field shot a flaming arrow. It arched the long distance through the air and landed in the Olympic Flame holder. The Olympic Flame burst in to life. Beautiful!

Compared to that, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Beijing were garish.

    It was impressive, tho.

Roger looks so handsome in red. I liked the outfits for the Swiss. Everyone was saying how extremely hot it was in that stadium last night so the Swiss beat the heat in their cool and relaxed outfits.
GO ROGER!!! GO FOR THE GOLD!!! We know you can do it!! Best of luck to you!!

The opening ceremony was absolutely breathtaking. Wish I could have seen it in person. I agree w/Deep South Girl. The lighting of the torch in Barcelona is almost unbeatable.

The Chinese do love Roger. In fact, all of Asia does. He is extremely popular in that part of the world.

I think the Swiss uniforms looked very nice. Of course, Roger looks good in everything. Those broad shoulders, and dazzling, but shy smile – he looked so handsome. Beautiful man, beautiful person.

His appeal is international. The world recognizes his class and his beautiful tennis game. Not surprised the Chinese gave him a good reception.

This site tends to be too critical of Roger for me, but I dare to write my comments sometimes.

Hope he does very well at the Olympics, and even better the rest of the year.

still maintain, the shoes looked kinda cheap. but practical. however, i too liked the red shorts outfit. very sporty & he looked great in red & white. IT’S A SPORTING EVENT!!! a jacket is nice too but roger’s always decked out in a jacket. the swiss delegation’s uniforms fit the occasion.

Roger did look particularly tasty–great legs and his precious little sock tan.
