Two facts likely to haunt Federer for the rest of his life.
Posted by tennisplanet on July 11, 2009
-H2H against Nadal.
-The widely held public perception that he was trapped in marriage. For someone who’s not too accustomed to not getting his way and holds his public persona in high esteem, to be cornered so helplessly and taken advantage of, even if he wanted it (which is a joke in itself after a decade of screwing around) – it’s very demeaning and humiliating.
Worse, it’s a situation you can do nothing to mitigate. It’s spilled milk that happens everyday.
Wanna get a sense which is more devastating of the two? The second one. That’s saying a lot considering what the first one is, don’t you think?
And that’s just from 27 years of living.
Yup, he’s scarred for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TP: No matter what you must insist Mirka’s baby looks like Warwrinka!

I was laughing off your no. 2 haunt, but Federer continuously brings up that he was going to get married in 2008, but his schedule was too jammed packed. You know how he found out about the Olympics like a week or two before hand?
JD said
What else does he have left? Making good picture of it is essential. I reckon, they had enough time to tie the knot in between the seasons, no? Then there would have been no need to make it all that freaking way – first announce the baby-news, then marry…
Anyway…. whatever.) TP, you rock)

TP, I really do wish you could send some of whatever you’re smoking over here…
The only thing I can imagine might ‘haunt’ Federer (if that’s even the word) is that Peter Carter didn’t live to see him get his act together and became The Federer.

My thoughts exactly.

wether it’s just bringing up some ‘controversy’ – which would mean you’re making a very good and creative job – or you COMPLETELY get him wrong, TP!!!

With Roger taking five weeks off, I guess you have to write something.

yeah, Bettyjane. looks like…
i’m fine with it. nothing can belittle my happiness for the GOAT’s achievements anymore…

This is what TP reads once a year and then he passes it to Gerard for the rest of the year.

The above statement from Dee is a typical example of why the Federer Gestapo drive a lot of tennis lovers away from this site (or at least away from reading comments and making comments). It’s sad to see this kind of disrespectful manners, publicly implying that a person with such vast knowledge about tennis as Gerard is “crazy” just because he doesn’t have a Federer altar in his bedroom.

Yes Bjornino, the “Fed Gestapo” can be annoying and obnoxious but it doesn’t stop me from posting, debating, and having fun in here and it shouldn’t stop you either. Yes, there are some brain-dead Fed-nuthuggers who know nothing about sports and say some stupid sh*t, but you’re free to call them out on their BS, engage them, and debate with them — I do.
And without diverse opinions and topics, The Planet will jsut go back to it’s Fed-Orgy/Mutual Masturbation days filled with insightful exchanges such as:
A): “Fed is soo BEAUTIFUL to watch but I HATE Rafa and his game is UGLY!!!”.
B): “Yes, I LOVE Fed TOOOO!!!! YAYYYYY!!!”.
A): “NO, I LOVE FED WAYYY MORE THAN U!!!!.
Ughhh

Mike,
That was very funny
Of course you’re right…but…I just find it so off-putting and despicable when people like Dee use this forum to publicly hint that someone like Gerard – who’s clearly one of the most knowledgable posters of all here – has mental deficiencies. That’s just sad and pathetic behavoiur and imo does not belong here. Especially when the “hint” was not even put in a humorous way.

It must be your favorite pasttime to find something, anything about
Roger. Pick on somebody else, for a change. It is getting a little tiresome.

Honestly, TP, it’s only one week since Roger stood along side 3 legends holding the gold cup. He’s on an all-time high and leave it at that.
Why not do some surmising about Rafa, his parents, and his Uncle Toni. It’s good material to keep you busy for several weeks!

can’t imagine that federer wouldn’t be curious at some point in his life & fantasize about “playing the field” but — too late now! he’ll have to suck it up & make the best of his family arrangements. which is a pretty good situation, if one had to be stuck in one, if ya ask me! i think he’ll make this trade-off work.

TP. You shouldn’t miss so many doses of whatever you take to keep you bipolar disorder and your obsessions in check. TP # 1 is a great guy but TP # 2 is a great stinker and totally obsessed with Rog.

I like this blog, but sometimes it is trashier than a Hollywood tabloid.
More tennis, less gossipy bullshit, please.

I think TP, is right about both of his assumptions.
Roger has to know, there are those that will point to Rafael completely dominating him whenever the subject of GOAT is brought up. And there isn’t too much Roger can do to reverse the H2H between him and Rafael.
I don’t think the second one is that bad… he finally married his long-time girlfriend. The only negative is he waited until she was visibly pregnant to marry her. That looked bad. But he did the right thing- that should count for something.
MARIE said
Sarah,
His girlfriend got pregnant and they got married, nothing wrong there. But from the beginning Roger has tried to give the impression that this was planned with the “this is a dream come true”, and the curious statement “I think I was always thinking” about having a child so the kid could see him play. It just seems that he’s “protesting too much”. I do think that impression makes him uneasy.

Marie:
Agreed. I have always said Roger talks too much.

honestly, Fed is less worried about himself than the majority of the tennis-following public are! the man just won the French Open and Wimbledon and is now #1 again. let him enjoy the ride!! geeeeeezz!!!
Sarah said
Ch:
I’m sure professionally Roger IS on top of the world and he should be. To me, he has always wanted to know what people think about him. I don’t sucess has not changed that.
Sarah said
I don’t ‘think’ success has changed that.
