Ali was pretty much a jerk. Go back and look at what he did with Frazier and some other issues. He’s like John Lennon now, another jerk who gets credit for being some great human being. Although, Lennon gets credit for being some peacenik because he wrote “Imagine” while people totally ignore his wife abuse, child abandonment, and substance abuse.

Agreed. The “Louisville Lip” was the Genesis and archetype of poor sportsmanship. Calling Frazier a “gorilla” and “Uncle Tom” was beyond reprehensible, but thankfully, he’s long been silenced. Poetic justice indeed.

What Ali did to Joe Frazier was disgusting. I don’t know how Frazier maintained any sense of control being constantly ridiculed in such a vulgar manner. How ironic that Ali, who touted black pride and empowerment was so liberal in his use of black stereotypes. And I don’t think “jerk” quite sums up what an unrepentant a**hole Lennon was.
