Federer vs Hewitt. What’s motivating whom for just this meeting?
Posted by tennisplanet on January 24, 2010
Other than the obvious prize at stake, ONE common elephant has to be Roche. For rock people, Roche used to coach Federer and is now coaching Hewitt and he is from Australia. Geeezzzzzzzz!!!!!
Federer-Roche split was far from amicable planting a sizeable chip on both clowns. One on Roche has flowed down on to Hewitt who already is burdened with his own BS against Federer – bagels being the last one of them.
Federer ABSOLUTELY LOVES to humiliate jokers who act arrogantly on the court. It’s so ingrained and strong that his game picks that vibe and delivers a symphony piercing through the joker’s heart and soul.
Roddick is just another version of Hewitt, explaining the scorecard against the two clowns over the years.
While Hewitt has suffered the bagel curse, Roddick has his own gigantic lumps to deal with. When Federer is alone, in retrospect, he must be LOVING the five-set beating he handed to Roddick at Wimbledon. In many ways, it was even better than bagelling a guy he hates for his arrogance.
Hewitt, however, can claim to be even with Federer in one respect – marriage and family – which should strike one chip off Hewitt’s block. No matter what you bark publicly, being married with children and competing against youngsters surely dates you enough to affect the game to some degree.
Given how far back the two go, for Hewitt it may be as close as he can now get to salvaging the beating he has taken over the years. Baghdatis retirement shouldn’t hurt either considering the senior citizen status the two are labelled under today.
Besides, this is Hewitt’s Basel and he has returned to grab rank no. 22 after falling to 107 last year which shouldn’t be too much of a confidence damper going in.
But with all that, will it ever come close to the battle Roddick and Gonzalez just got done waging? Probably not. Even on an off day for Federer, Hewitt needs just too much firepower to win three sets. He may win a set or two but to win the match would be a huge upset. Duh!!!!!!
Roche must be on Viagra right about now to release the stress of being put on the spot – at home – so publicly. Why? ‘Cause in reality this is between Federer and Roche.

That studies prove red-light cameras at intersections actually increase the number of accidents? Additionally, they are now planning to install speed cameras within these stupid contraptions.
They have calculated that if you are shot speeding AND running a red light, the two infractions, after all the costs, will cost you close to $1600. Yeah, that’s 16freakinghundred dollars.
That’s my eight freaking month allowance. Believe me world is better off than seeing me with no money for that long. Heck, this town is under lock down last week of every freaking month.

Is Murray about to provide Federer a quote Sampras used to flog Agassi?
Posted by tennisplanet on January 23, 2010
Or will this rivalry produce numbers that will leave both an equal share of the spoils?
What I mean is this: Sampras did not even come close to dominating Agassi. H2H 20-14 Sampras. When needled on it, he came back with ‘I beat him when it mattered the most (Slams)’. That sent a dagger into Agassi – a dagger that blew up once inside.
If Federer is unable to reverse the 4-6 H2H he ‘enjoys’ against Murray, media will most certainly pose that similar question. More so, since here, unlike with Sampras, Federer is upside down.
Federer stopped Murray’s bid to win his first Slam at last year’s US Open and a final encounter here appears certain.
In addition, Federer has won the last two encounters after losing three straight signalling a trend that has the potential of wiping out Murray’s claim to fame of beating Federer in his prime.
So if Federer does achieve what Sampras did to Agassi in the Slams, will the six wins over Federer by Murray AND a winning record be enough to compensate?
Or ‘when it mattered’ will find a new weapon?

And she is a bit of a diva. She orders around balls to be at her left hand side. Umpire always went to har and informed her not Tatiana. After all the wiping she still spotted some rain and complained. So he sent people to pat dry the surface.but not Tatiana’s side.

We could even hear Serena breathing. talking to ball kids! Talking about ball kids, they were actually wearing Hot Hot pink.I felt for those pretty ball boys dressed in hot pink.

What a shame! They didn’t even get a chance to make noise.
We tried to get a picture of Djokovic’s pants with ‘Noel” and only got one.It only shows when his shirt goes up.So we had to wait for his serve. We have his bottom in so many angles if any one’s interested. I think people sitting behind us noticed what we were focusing and I heard a giggle and saying ‘are you serious” So I moved to a corner seat, but didn’t give up.

Basic freaking criteria for on-court / tunnel / anywhere interviewer.
Posted by tennisplanet on January 22, 2010
Low profile and least threatening personality. How freaking plain and obvious is that!!!!!!
If you are picking a former No. 1 for that job you are short circuiting the fuse from the freaking get go.
You can actually visually freaking see the two egos about to go at it with a slightest slip on either side.
Remember when Federer replied to some stupid question from Courier ‘I’ll answer, depending on what you ask me’. With nowhere to go, Courier comes back with ‘You have no choice. I control the microphone’.
What that response was asking for could have been something like this: ‘I control the freaking stage you are parked on for over six freaking years. I am paying for your measly salary for this microphone job. Tennis clearly didn’t work out for you with just four Slams’.
There are just two people currently breathing who have had the most success with the microphone specially when dealing with the big cats and big egos: Mary Jo Fernandez and Darren Cahill.

Girl who proposed to Nadal yesterday reveals herself.

She claims cruelty from a close relative leaving her no choice but to seek Nadal as her husband to exact revenge.
Her claims for this alleged torture though has been limited to emotional abuse triggering the onset of inferiority complex in view of unexpected success of this close relative.
She cannot find a more effective tool to counter and reverse the injustices she has been subjected to for years.

Treetops making a major freaking move.
Posted by tennisplanet on January 22, 2010
Isner, Karlovic, Del Potro and Cilic have slayed all midgets on their way to the fourth round. Some notable dwarfs squashed are Monfils and Wawrinka – both by Cilic.
But now they face the moment of truth with Cilic facing Delpo, Isner facing Murray and Karlovic facing Nadal.
Cilic ironically has the most chance of moving on as he will have to step on brother treetop for it. But then he has Roddick next followed by Murray. Tough journey but can that height and serve overcome all that?
As things stand today, Murray clearly is a hands down winner and his showdown with Federer appears inevitable. Federer has Djokovic to pass while Murray has Nadal before the date, but numbers are aligned almost perfectly for a Federer-Murray final.
If Nadal beats Murray it most probably will have to be in another Verdasco-like five-setter setting up a repeat of last year’s final against Federer.
But with Clijsters out already, maybe that uncertainty will creep into the mens draw too to throw up some strange upsets and thereby crown a totally unexpected winner. Cilic?
Nadal dropping his first set against Kohl indicates a gradual progression of resistance his draw is providing him thereby preparing him to peak for the right challenge. Surprisingly Nadal’s ace count is up hopefully allowing him to charge forcefully through the next rounds without worrying too much about the fuel gauge.

What bothers Federer most?
Posted by tennisplanet on January 21, 2010
It’s not that high ball on his left shoulder as much as this:
That ball has to come in a slow high loop and fall with no pace almost vertically on his racket. Why? Because then he has to generate his own pace with placement to make the shot work.
Flat shot to his backhand in an attempt to pass him is futile because of his foot speed that allows him to get to almost any ball with enough time to spare. So if you are not going to pass him why not slow it down and let him produce pace AND angle from his weaker wing standing far behind the baseline.
That’s better than attempting to force him into a rushed shot because all he has to do then is just get his racket to the ball and use the incoming pace to do the rest. You don’t need much technique to pull that off compared to the other scenario.
Nadal is able to achieve that immensely on clay due to higher bounce which is non-existent on hard and grass validating the tighter scores he has had against Federer there.
And the best part? You don’t need the Nadal-like topspin to get results. Just a ragdoll-like ball with enough pace to deny Federer the ‘run-around’ BS and you are there.

How stupid is this in reality?
Posted by tennisplanet on January 21, 2010

I mean, one guy has toiled and sacrificed so much to EARN his stripes which now outshine every other color on the horizon since the inception of the sport while the other moron’s claim to fame is some stupid notion humans have coined to call a family ‘Royal’. What a joke!!!
How hollow of a tremendous feeling should come over you coming so close to a legend by deed when all you have to show is a silver spoon up your backside?
I have never understood why and how ANYONE can be regarded superior with a yardstick other than deeds? And this one has to be bottom of that stupid pit.

Soak it up and stop freaking sleeping for the next 10 days.
Posted by tennisplanet on January 21, 2010
Why?
Because once the Slam is over most of the big cats will go in hibernation for almost a month. Nothing’s happening in February.
And when I post my nonsensical non-tennis crap in Feb (Yeah, I have degrees of it. Current one is just more cleverly disguised), I don’t want to hear babies crying about dying for tennis to restart.
Forget about everything for just ten more days to really take it in as matches now get more contentious and exciting. That shouldn’t be hard for you.

Who among the top five is happiest this season with two Slam matches in?
Posted by tennisplanet on January 21, 2010
Nadal. Duh!!!!!!!! Unexpectedly? Sure.
But the guy is the only one with a title (Abu Dhabi) and a final (Doha) appearance and he is just one of two to not have dropped a set at the first Slam of the year – he has not even come close to it except once (tie break). Rest? three twos, one one and one four and just one 7-6.
All that may not be that big a deal considering we are just starting out here, but for Nadal, the jungle mangled with personal and professional BS he is just exiting, makes this result quite heartening and encouraging.
Granted he hasn’t hit the real stuff yet but so has nobody else and they are already faltering – some big time. Delpo?
Is Nadal finally coming out from under the separation anxiety, something Serena has produced a precedent for?
Can this be the season for the return of the warrior or the end of one?
