Nadal’s coaching warning video. From Claire. Thanks.

Posted by tennisplanet on June 27, 2010

CLAIRE

Found it:” Youtube – Rafa was given a coaching warning by chair umpire Mourier” – don’t know how to link to this site but google above and you’ll get to it!

This is what I’ve been referring to – the change over thing – there was much than what was shown (on video).
TO ME, it looks like Nadal realizes Tony is being watched and Nadal is telling his uncle to “be quiet”!!!

So excited about tomorrow to watch the matches! :)

Good night all! :) :)

If you claim to be a tennis fan, you NEED to clear your schedule for the next seven freaking days.

Posted by tennisplanet on June 27, 2010

Other than the obvious reasons, remember the next Slam is not due for another three months. Besides, the fact that ALL six seeds are still alive for the first time in nearly a decade is bound to produce couple of thrillers. And it’s Wimbledon, grass and all that jazz.

You cannot afford to miss even a single match – and this year that may even extend to the women’s wing too.

Sit back, relax and take in one of the most fascinating weeks in tennis this year.

Did you know?

Posted by tennisplanet on June 27, 2010

Rafael Nadal skipped the grass-court Grand Slam tournament last year because of tendinitis in both knees, becoming only the fifth player in the history of an event first contested in 1877 to not defend his championship because of an injury.

It’s only the second time in the 42-year Open era that a Grand Slam tournament’s top three seeded men each was taken the distance (5 sets) before the fourth round – Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.

For the first time since 2001, the top six men in Wimbledon’s seedings are in the fourth round: No. 1 Federer, No. 2 Nadal (vs. 66th-ranked Paul-Henri Mathieu), No. 3 Djokovic (vs. 2002 Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt), No. 4 Murray (vs. No. 18 Sam Querrey of Santa Monica, Calif.), No. 5 Roddick (vs. 82nd-ranked Yen-hsun Lu of Taiwan) and No. 6 Robin Soderling (vs. No. 9 David Ferrer).

James Blake Blasts ESPN’s Pam Shriver at Wimbledon. From Chicago fan. Thanks.

Posted by tennisplanet on June 27, 2010

CHICAGO FAN

All. Normally, I don’t complain about the announcers, I simply tolerate them. But Pam Shriver has to go. First of all, she is obnoxious, pretending to be best pals with all of the players.

She got aggravated with a BBC colleague. Then most recently, she was heckling James Blake at a match. Unbelievable.

I wish they would find someone else because I just cannot stand the whining.

Stella poem for Sunday.

Posted by tennisplanet on June 27, 2010

STELLA

Sunday 27th a day of rest. I think this will be my last verse. I think people are getting tired of them so unless I find fans waving placards and protesting in the streets maybe I should stop.Let me know . I don’t want to outstay my welcome.

So this is to celebrate Federer . The greatest , the magic of his play , and the fact he made it to week two. This verse is with apologies to William Blake. As you read it ( or sing it) it is to the music of Sir Hubert Parry. All anglos or anglophiles will recognise this as the “hymn” Jerusalem
for those of you who do not know “Jerusalem I have included a you tube link to the song.

And did those feet in modern time,
Dance over England’s grass courts green.
And was the grestest of all time,
On England’s pleasant pastures seen.
He will not cease from mental fight,
nor shall his racquet sleep in his hand,
Till he has won another Slam.
In England’s green and pleasant land.
