……….all about building an endorsement-friendly image that drives those seemingly fan-cordial deeds on and off the court? Do players even think about what fans will feel if they withdrew from a certain event for frivolous or non-frivolous reasons? It might cross their mind but the weight it carries in impacting the ultimate decision has to be totally insignificant. Broadly speaking this may be the scale, in order of priority, that all important decisions are measured with:
Health.
Career.
Endorsement value.
Cash.
Need to take the trash out.
Dog and Pony show in town.
Need to rearrange the socks draw.
Fans.
Even though fans are the SOLE reason ANY sport lives beyond the back yard, they are the most ‘taken for granted’ on the totem pole. Has there been EVER an instance in ANY sport that a feared or actual mutiny from fans forced the turkey necks to drastically or even marginally alter the course of ANYTHING? Wasn’t there some baseball strike sometime ago that was slated to scare away fans from future seasons? Didn’t Ice Hockey face that dilemma too? Even the referee fixing NBA games failed to evoke the fan wrath.
It’s the universal law of oiling the squeaky joint and ignoring the rest.

Federer is averaging a measly $4.6 million per year – over 12 years.
Nadal $3.5 million – over 9 years.
Sampras a shade over $3 million – over 14 years.
Kobe Bryant is averaging $19,800,000 per year. That’s nearly $20 million every freaking year, for the mentally challenged – over 14 years.
Tiger Woods is averaging $5.1 – over 18 years.
How much do these soccer clowns make?
Jordan?
