This was the time to fix that butt problem. It is going to get worse before it gets better, unless my proposal to let players play in the nude is accepted TODAY.

How many majors will Nadal end up with?

Posted by tennisplanet on August 25, 2007

Six?

Cannot imagine him winning Roland Garros, for more than three years with the injury-prone game that he has.

Winning a Grand Slam other than Roland Garros? Not likely or never going to happen. OK, maybe Wimbledon once. He seems more determined to win there than any other place and has come closer than at any other place, despite having a brutal full clay season. But if it is not happening in the next two years, it is not happening ever.

If the above actually happens and Nadal ends up with six or seven Grand Slams and never gets to the No. 1 ranking, it will be a pity.

He undoubtedly has a lot more talent and can easily top 10 Grand Slams if handled professionally from now on. Auntie Tony has to step aside. He has done his job the best he could. Now the ship is going into waters over his head.

Either keep banging your head against the wall and keep getting the same result or change course NOW. Last three years have given ample indication of Nadal’s strengths and weaknesses, but there has been no quantum effort made to overcome the weaknesses professionally.

He is still 21 but aging fast on the court and if help doesn’t come now, it will be too little too late.

Fans want a re-match at the US Open.

Posted by tennisplanet on August 25, 2007

Nadal has just been officially supplanted as the next one in the rivalry.

Fans want a rematch between Federer and Djokovic, to settle whether the Montreal win is a pattern or just an aberration.

Djokovic has to most likely go through Nadal to secure the finals berth against Federer. If he wins this, and does it by eliminating Nadal AND Federer, back to back, then you have a real fight on your hands.

Conversely, if Federer is able to dispatch him in three sets, Djokovic will be put back in line to take a number. With both of them having a challenging draw compared to Nadal, it will come down to how much is left in their tank, by the time they square off in the finals.

This is the first time, Federer is going into the US Open, having played all matches at both Montreal and Cincy in not so friendly weather. Djokovic melted after that final with Federer, in the first round in Cincy against Moya. Maybe that was a blessing in disguise for him, and will have more fuel left to burn than Federer at the USO.

But there is no denying, Federer-Djokovic rivalry is what the tennis world is awaiting more eagerly than another Federer-Nadal clash. That match is more likely to be an epic battle than the one with Nadal. With the future of tennis and possibly the next No. 1 rank on the line, it invokes more drama and suspense.

Can’t we just not go the final straight away, instead of wasting precious time and money? We want this issue settled once and for all. We cannot wait. Anyone has a problem with that?

Growing diversity in the tennis world.

Posted by tennisplanet on August 25, 2007

The sport is attracting jokers, who were never found in the tennis world, just a few years ago.

There is a healthy infusion of black tennis players specially in women’s tennis. William sisters may be responsible for that trend there.

Besides, this is the first time in the history of the sport, that the big three (US, Australia and the UK) of tennis, have been replaced by nations coming out of the wazoo. We Americans cannot point to where Iraq is on the world map, forget about Switzerland, Serbia, Croatia etc. Did they just become nations?

Then there are the freaks of nature who cannot stop growing taller, even if they stop eating (Karlovic). Tennis never had six footers in the top ten. Now it is the norm.

People from other planets have joined in the parade. Some are not even aware which one they are from, like Jankovic and Stepinyourneck.

Orientals are coming out the wood work too. I thought Michael Chang was the first and the last. They have more players in the top 100 than UK and Australia combined.

Is it the rise in the prize money, or is it because the big cats have abandoned the ship?

Is Federer really that good, or the competition is so weak, that he can pull off any shot he wants? The fact, that he always had trouble with a 200-year old Agassi, still creates doubt, how an over-the-hill joker, from the previous generation, was able to push the best player in his prime, while the current players wilt and falter.

Has tennis suddenly become so popular in other countries, or are they just filling in the vaccum? There has never been a player from Switzerland in the top 100 ever, I think. Is Federer just a freak, or that’s how we are going to play tennis from now on?

What’s next? A GOAT from Alaska?

Other planets should be barred, at the freaking least. If this keeps up, we will have other species competing at Wimbledon. Somebody please step in, or I am starting a training camp for goats and cows.
