If your looking at only open-era than it’s Nadal, Agassi, Wilander, and Connors. There were a lot actually to have won on 3 surfaces.

1. The most recent player to have won Grand Slam titles on grass, clay and hardcourt is of course Rafael Nadal. Clay 2005 – 2008, Grass 2008, Hardcourt 2009 (Australiam Open.
2. Andre Agassi of course has won a career Grand Slam so he of course qualifies with; Grass 1992, Clay 1999 and his Hardcourt wins at both the US Open in 1994 & 1999 + his 4 Australian Open wins in 1995, 2000, 2001 & 2003.
3. Jimmy Connors is also included due to his US Open victory in 1976 which was in those 3 years 1975 – 1977 inclusive played on Clay, of course he won his Grass court titles at Wimbledon in 1974 and 1982 as well as the Australian Open in 1974 which until 1987 was also played on grass at Kooyong. He won his Hardcourt titles at the US in 1978, 1982 & 1983 due to the US Open switching to hardcourts in 1978.
4. Mats Willander is the forth player to have won on these 3 surfaces. He won the Australian Open on grass in 1983 & 1984, He won the French Open on Clay of course in 1982, 1985 & 1988 and he won The US Open on hardcourt in 1988 as well as the Australian Open in 1988 which was now also a hardcort surface by then.
So I believe these are the 4 players that satisfy this ‘Hall-of-Fame’ question.
Cheers
Gerard

Hi TP,
I have a feeling that because of the fact I live in Europe, I won’t ever have the chance to be first in this competitions.
I want to be in wall of fame-list but not if I have to give up sleeping.
But one of these four men is defenitly my Mats.:)
Greetings from Holland

Hey, I know “Vassy” won it fair and square, but I think there ought to be some recognition for “Gerard” (#21) who gave such a nice, informative and educational response; I really learned alot reading his explanations. TP, Could he get an “Honorable Mention” plaque or something to recognize his great contribution to the contest?
Three Cheers for Gerard!!! 🙂

Actually, it’s only 4 given that the Australian open was in grass up to the late 80’s. And since the US Open didn’t go Hard Court until the mid 70’s that rules out the non-open era champions. Funny how Connors won the US Open in all surfaces. Talk about home advantage…
