Nicolas Mahut has just lost to Frank Dancevic. Well done to Frank. I know this is a contradiction, but Nico needs more regular wins against different players to become match tough and where he doesn’t have to rely on his serve, he does have more tools in his box to do better, his returns were not good, he doesn’t play enough tennis outside grass.

I bet Frank was hoping not to go to 70-68 third set. Nice win for one of our few Canadians. He did well on the summer circuit a few years ago

Go Dustin Brown!!! Haha, go read the comments about his win over Querrey.. basically he just psyched the Q man out, completely! Served very fast (Sam described it as serving while he was still on the way over to the baseline) and didn’t even sit down on the changeovers, just kept bouncing on his feet getting ready for the next service game! Funny stuff 😛

    France 1 Spain 0

Monfils won the first rubber against David. A tough competitive 5 setter and not David’s best surface, so well done to Monfils. Actually, it was a great match of superb tennis from both players.

Not looking good for Spain thus far. Michael Llodra is outplaying Fernando Verdasco right now 2 sets to 1, down 4-0 in the fourth. At least the first rubber was great tennis from both players and David fought back like a demon to level it up and take Monfils to five, one of those ‘there can only be one winner’ matches, it could have gone either way, but this is disappointing from Verdasco, imo. I was surprised Albert didn’t play Almagro for a singles rubber.

I understand David Nalbandian has beaten Nikolay Davydenko.

Take it back – Verdasco is fighting in the 4th set, 6-5 to France. Fer to serve, possible tie breaker?

Michael Llodra the serve/volley man has taken the tie break and puts France in the lead 2-0. Super player to watch.

Watching U.S.A.’s 18-year-old now in Newport. Serve & volley from both players.

    Croatian people are horrible!

Croatia’s fans booed and jeered and refused to stand when Serbia’s national anthem was played, and some chanted “Kill the Serb” and other abuse at Djokovic.

That’s disgraceful for so called fans to do that. You can’t tar all Croatian people with the same brush, I have a friend/colleague from Croatia, she and her family would be horrified and embarrassed by that behaviour, as I would imagine most decent folk would be, including the Croatian players, and Ivan is a good friend of Novak..

This Davis Cup tie with France is becoming a nightmare for the Spanish Team. Can Feli and Fer beat Llodra and Benneteau in doubles? Not sure, bearing in mind, Llodra is a doubles slam champion, a doubs specialist, Benneteau is no slouch in doubs either.

It looks like Spain are going to be dumped out in the quarters. Llodra is looking like the hero of the weekend, the French team have all played brilliantly. Ferru did all he could yesterday, gave 100%, it was a close rubber and competitive. The glam boys have no answers to Llodra/Benneteau who are playing great doubs tennis. As Cowan says, ‘Celebration! First time [Verdasco] he has served/volleyed’! I suspect it might be too late.

Single break in the third, but have the advantage in this game 4-3. Spain have broken back 4-4 and more positive in demeanour.
