    Nice pictures.

Aren’t they? They seem like such a happy family.

Malia looks like she’s inherited the family height.
      (Perhaps some exho tennis? :P)

    Love the family, ugly dog.

Nice family. I think that’s a gorgeous looking cuddly dog.

Jenny I am a huge fan of big dogs as well including the Bernese Shepards and the Black Newfoundlands! that I think you like. Just don’t like these dogs.

      • Jenny said

Bernese are lovely, and those wonderful Newfie rescue dogs. We agree! 🙂 Any news of the tooth, Banti?

      • banti said

Hey Jenny yeah he drilled the hell out of the molar for nearly an hour and a half, saying it was a “nasty one” 🙂 I even had an abscess forming at the bottom of one of the accessory canals, so he said he couldn’t close it with a permanent sealant, just a temporary one until he looks at it again this week. He did say I needed a crown bc of the pressure the Molars take with everyday use. I’m doing the crown with a family friend over two visits on my trip to San Jose, Costa Rica, he will be charging me minimum:) I wasn’t comfortable getting the actual RC done there but feel the crown is harmless.

      • Jenny said

Nasty, no they can’t seal a cavity if there’s any sign of an abcess, I’m surprised the Novacain was effective with an abcess brewing. I trust you got antiB’s. I guess you have a crater!

      • banti said

He prepared me for the pain after the Novacain wore off, so just took vicoprofen in advance. And found the local anesthetic gels they sell over the counter work so well. Pain lasted for about 24 hours and subsided after that. And yes I guess I do have a crater! I really wanted to see him do the work somehow, should have given him a helmet cam!

    • M said

Banti, leave Bo alone! He is cute, and very smart. 😛

      • banti said

M, smart I can’t disagree with that. Poodles or dog’s in that family are super smart. Just don’t like how he’s proportioned and his colors. Not a fan of those Goldendoodles as well and he looks like one of those.

      • D.S.G. said

Banti, Portugeuse Water dogs are a breed unto themselves. They are retrievers. They’re not a hybrid like labradoodles or gondledoodles or schnoodles. These hybrids do well the first litter but then the grandchildren don’t always retain the same genes as some are recessive, etc. So spending a LOT of money for one of these designer dogs is not very smart.

        They have wonderful tails.

Bo in not a goldendoodle or any of those other designer dogs. He’s a hard working Portuguese Water dog!!

      • M said

Well said, D.S.G. “Designer dogs”, lol. 🙂

(Somewhat off-topic – we had a setter purebred when I was a little girl, and she was stolen. We were all very sad. I guess it’s one of the reasons I like Bo – vicarious non-designer (hee hee – I’m going to try not to overuse that 🙂 ) purebred love, besides his “lineage” — presented to the Obamas from the Kennedys, as noted above — and the fact that, like his human family, he is hard-working, cute, friendly, and smart. Fits right in.)

      • D.S.G. said

You are so right. “…like his human family he is hardworking, cute, friendly, and smart.” I THINK I remember that Senator Kennedy gave President Obama one of his litter but I’m not sure. I think I’m right on that, tho. I know that they were looking at Rescue dogs but then Sen. Kennedy gave them Bo. It’s a very nice story.

      • Jenny said

As D.S.G. says, the Portuguese Water Dog is a pure breed in it’s own right and recognised as such by our KC. However, it is not classified as one of the Retriever varieties in the Gundog Group. It is classified in the Working Group.

      • M said

Jenny, you are a true sportswoman. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a lady who knew so much about dogs.
        🙂

      • Jenny said

M, I was heavily involved in the professional show dog scene, shows and the world of pedigree dogs. Also rescue and rehoming of any dog, pure or otherwise. Sad I know, but I used study Labrador pedigrees and genes, lol they are classified as one of the Retrievers.

      • M said

Not sad at all! Most impressive! Every time the Westminster Dog Show is in town, I think about going, but I’m always afraid because despite how beautiful and adorable the dogs are, I feel like I’d have absolutely no clue what was going on.

And “Best in Show” is one of my favorite movies. 😛

(Along, of course, with “Waiting for Guffman” and “A Mighty Wind”, for those of us more familiar with the Families Steinbloom and Corky St. Clairs of the world than we are with the Scott Donlans and Steven Vanderhoofs. )

      • Jenny said

Sorry, but I have no time for the breeding of ‘designer’ dogs which are really crossbreeds with a fancy name, there are plenty of regular mixes or ‘Heinz’ in shelters looking for good homes. There are a number of breeds who don’t shed if that’s a problem.

      • Jenny said

Westminster is a pretigious championship show like our Crufts, I guess dogs have to qualify at other shows prior to Westminster to be shown there, just like Crufts. Champions get an automatic pass, so they don’t have to qualify. I used to go to Crufts for years when it was in London, met up with old friends, it’s now moved to the NEC in Birmingham, spread over four days, because it got too big for Earls Court.

“Also rescue and rehoming of any dog, pure or otherwise.”

I forgot to add, I think folks who do this are unsung heroes/heroines. I have a friend who assists in managing a facility where that’s one of their regular services.

Like 1R byes for top seeds in the Masters and Slams? 😀

        ——————————————–
Yes! Many of the dogs at these shows are already champions. They need three Challenge Certificates [CC’s] from other championship shows to become a champion here. One of our most famous Labradors had around 33 CC’s or tickets as some call them. He was one of the sweetest and most of beautiful of Labs I have ever met, he was a full champion and not just a Show Champion [Sh Ch] as with some of the Gundog breeds who haven’t qualified with the gun.

Sounds like the Roger Federer of Labradors, lol. 😀

Gundogs? Sounds ominous. Does that mean they have to go hunting with people to qualify …?

        —————————————————
Not to my knowledge, M. Labs or Goldens aren’t bred to kill, it’s not their nature, they just pick up, hence the term ‘soft mouth’. A Lab should be able to hold a raw egg in it’s mouth without cracking it. I’m not sure how they qualify for full status, it isn’t my scene, what I do know is, a full gundog champion cannot be ‘gun-shy’ or hysterical if shot over, it’s the noise and steadiness to it more than anything and they have to be quiet when working. My late show Lab would stand out rock solid in the garden ignoring thunder or fireworks banging off all around him. He was never shot over but was bred from show dogs who were.

The Obama family dog is called Bo and he’s a Portuguese Water Dog.

    • Bettyjane said

the late Senator Ted Kennedy bought them the dog. He had two of his own that he simply doted on.

    • Bettyjane said

That’s exactly right Jen. I hope he does better than the Clinton’s chocolate lab Buddy (hit by a car in the neighborhood they moved to in Chappaqua N.Y. Very sad.

      • Jenny said

Aw, Buddy got hit 😦 How did that happen, grrgh!

      • Bettyjane said

The Clintons were away at the time and whoever was supposed to be watching did a crap job and it got out of the house. Hit right on the street where they lived.

      • Jenny said

It tends to be down to casual caring that this sort of thing happens, very sad. I never allow others to care for our animals, apart from my husband and a close friend who I trust. Better off in a safe boarding kennels. My friends three retired police dogs were ‘let out’ by a builder who forgot to close a gate! They were found wandering on a busy high street and spotted by the local dog warden who had been alerted by the family and friends.

Why do you post this crap? Every single image is managed and you’re foolish to think any of it is anything other than a distraction.

Black Power coffee shop photo when his AG has said there is no black racism? With black thugs standing outside of polling places with clubs?? Do you really think that is an accident? Please dude, stick to tennis, you’re beyond insightful with some of your rants but politically? to post this garbage? no hope.

    • banti said

Wow, you sound like my father (An Obama hater of epic proportions) Not sure what the harm is posting pics of our president.

      • Jenny said

Personally I don’t see any harm either, no different to posting pics of our Queen or any other world famous person who isn’t connected with tennis, whether one likes/agrees with them or not. Of course there are some famous despots past and present who should never be seen.

      • Claire said

        “Pleaase dude,stick to tennis…” Ditto!

My impression is this site is composed of mostly liberals and/democrats! TP, in the past have you even posted pictures of Bush’s family vacation? How about pictures of the former president Bush’s daughter’s wedding?
