NOTE _- Federer’s remaining tournament to play was found on http://www.rogerfederer.com

I could not find Djkovic’s schedule for rest of year so I assumed he would play same tournaments as last year. Don’t know if he will skip one tournament or play additional tournaments!

Thanks for the calcs claire 🙂 Bit confusing but the summary helped 😛 So basically it’ll be a battle for no.2… cool stuff.

Hey, can all the guys on the site who said Fed would get back to no.1 before years end please come out of hiding? Pretty please? It’s ok… here little fellas, come here…

Stop it Blake, you’re acting childish.

Ditto! And Blake talks about Nadal haters!! Basically everyone on this site has congratulated Nadal – you are the one that brings Federer into the picture!

Frederer would probably be the first to admit Nadal should be #1 – he has won 3 GS’s and several 1,000 events~ Federer once said what would bother him is a player that plays tons of tournaments and accumulates tons of points and is #1 without winning a GS! Isn’t that what’s happened on the woman’s side?

Can’t agree with Fed there, Claire, I believe Serena said something similar or alluded to it. Being #1 is the player with the most ATP rank points, end of, there is nothing in the rules to say they have to be a Slam winner. If a player can reach #1 by working hard, playing/winning lots of tourneys, good luck to them. Not all players can cherry pick.

      Blake,

Be happy for what Nadal has achieved and be happy for what Federer has achieved. Why do we have to compare or why should we be jealous of what Nadal has achieved because Federer hasn’t done what Nadal has done!

It’s the same in life – jealousy of what your friend of neighbor has. Be happy for them. More than likely they worked hard at achieving what they have. But like Nadal and Federer have said it’s tennis there’s much more important things in life. I think Uncle Toni told nadal, don’t get carried away, you haven’t cured caner!

When I was sick, I had a friend who talked about her brother that had a bigger, nicer house than her,etc.,etc.
I’m no longer friends with this person; while I was standing there I wanted to say life and happiness are the most important things in life!

So be happy for Nadal and Federer and more important be happy that they are happy in their personal lifes. I bet Nadal would give up all his GS’s if his parents were still together!

Blake regarding FO, Federer for 3 years was in final in FO. Federer did say, I knew the year Nadal didn’t play in final, I would win. Federer admitted he couldn’t win if Nadal player. Nadal is the best player who has ever played on clay. For those 4 years Federer was the second best.

Meant I believe Nadal would give up all his GS’s if that would bring his parents back together. We all know how important family is to Nadal. I think Federer was #2 for 3 years, 4th he won FO. At that tournament, Federer was #1- and Federer has admitted that it was because Nadal didn’t play. So don’t ramble on about Federer winning GS – he himself has admitted why he won. If you don’t believe me, I will try to find where Federer said that –

I love the challenge of finding things on the internet! 🙂 Actually when M said she was having a hard time finding where Nadal read to children – I tried to find it but couldn’t – oh well! 🙂

Claire, You can find Djokovic’s schedule by googling Novak Djokovic and getting to his website. He’s playing Davis Cup on Friday, SAt and Sun THIS week (semis – in Serbia) and China Open and Shanghai in Oct.

      Thanks Growltiger,
Maybe later I will re-calculate. But I think basically Djkovic will have a chance to earn more that 990 points!

I think it will be close by year end. I’ll check but I think Nadal will end up with more points than any other player that ended year as #1 plus spread between #1 and #2. It will be hard to catch up to Nadal next year but Nadal has tons of points to defend!
