Q: Do you have a special strategy to beat him?

Nadal: Sure you have a little bit of strategy and you know what you have to do, or what you have to try to do to win. But it’s very difficult to do it against a perfect player like Roger. It’s always a very difficult thing playing against him and you have to play perfectly if really want to have any chance to beat him.

You know and I know that Federer is kicking himself in the butt for having played into the hands of Rafa all these years and let Nadal dominate him. Federer has never had a strategy against Nadal and has simply played on talent alone thinking he can play anyone’s game. If he had not gotten into those long and stupid rallies against Nadal and even Delpo he would have 19 or 20 Majors by now, including at least 1 Grand Slam. Anyone with a brain would have told him shorten the points, attack, and attack. What did Federer do? Try to out-rally a great base-liner. Not smart. And I am sure Nadal is smiling all the way to the podium thinking how did I pull that one off again, against a better and more talented player, the greatest of all time. Was I lucky or what or is that other guy just too stubborn and too proud to admit I am a more consistent base-liner.

Respectful & friendly towards his ‘rival’, as always!
I can see the two do a lot of exho’s together once they’re retired from active business in the ATP. Well… they’ve already started to do so. Great guys, the both of them!

    Ummm…for sure, Nadal, for sure….

    I like this part:

” Q: Do you have holidays in between tournaments?

A: Not much, two times. But not too much.”

Presumably, he had more holidays last year than this year, or was i wrong to only see him only once frolicking last summer after Wimby?

    Classic Nadal answer 🙂
