Federer was never sidelined, that’s why I think he’ll be back to win some slams 4-6.

It’s amazing, isn’t it? When Rafa fell to #4, that too was painted like it was the beginning of the end of his world. And now he’s #1 in the world.

Oh how short the memories of tennis. 🙂

But M, the two situations are not equivalent. Nadal was going through a bad spell – for whatever reason or combination of reasons – and it was always likely (imo) that he would sort the problems out. And he has come back stronger than ever. That cannot be the case with Federer. It is a simple matter of biology. We are mortal, alas, alas, alas (actually, thank God – but that’s another matter…..). That’s not to say that Federer can’t spring a nice surprise or two over the next couple of years. Here’s hoping.

        I can’t disagree, Grendel.

Rafa is still beholden to bleeding edge science, though, Grendel. There was a point, I believe, where it wasn’t at all certain there would be effective treatments found for the type of tendinitis he suffers. I think those treatments are still very new. And given that, I think there was a fair amount of uncertainty as to whether he would be able to return to full strength in optimal time to take full advantage of it.

Speaking of time, however, I will fully concede that it waits for no one, not even the mighty Roger.

P.S. Nice to “see” you. 🙂

    Good for you Roger 🙂

Ditto Jenny! I think Roger can do whatever he sets his mind to, and he seems to be in a good frame of mind right now so, go for it Roger!

Roger Roger Roger.. Let the racket do the talking! I do like the confidence but why not tell Mirka this %#@% instead of your heart broken fans who hate seeing you slip.

Cute. “I’m the one who catches then doing naughty things.” I remember that age all too well. With two of them you could spend your whole day “catching” them!

Atleast he has the right attitude. I hope it translates in to some good tennis. I bet he will.

Thank you Claire san. Somehow I guess the media made him fall into saying these things. I wish he keeps it quiet. But I do hope he does well to prove his point. It is awful to have to prove a point really. Please not to say so much in the future Federer san. 😦
