Isn’t Sampras-Nadal the next logical exho?

Posted by tennisplanet on September 15, 2008

If Sampras can win that, it will not only just validate his win over Federer but may also lend credence to the serve and volley tactic in today’s power game.

Sampras’s serve and volley plot would be the perfect foil for Nadal’s baseline game. With that constant beating the backhand horse strategy not available, Nadal will have to find another tool to beat Sampras.

Sampras has a very real shot at beating Nadal at least once in a three match exho, don’t you think?

Is John McEnroe wearing an expensive rug on his head?

Posted by tennisplanet on September 15, 2008

It has to be, considering how fast he was going bald and that the hair length never appear to change.

Have you noticed how players suddenly start becoming conscious of their looks and clothes after a while?

Posted by tennisplanet on September 15, 2008

Like currently Cilic, Del Potro, Querrey are at the stage where they have no clue / interest in looking good. But you will soon see a turning point in each one of them as they spend more time on the tour. Time when hair style, grooming and clothes abruptly take center stage.

Remember when Federer was there. Compare his before and after photographs and you will notice what a massive shift it has been in that respect. Some of course will never cross that bridge, or even if they did, it won’t matter like Davydenko, Stepanek, Canas etc.

Haven’t you noticed the clothing change with Djokovic ever since he has reached the No. 3 spot. Murray is still somewhere in the middle of the bridge and the transformation is right around the corner. Watch for that beard to vanish and a more clean cut better suited Murray to emerge soon, now that he is No. 4 and a much more visible entity.

Wonder what Sam Querrey can do to look as close to being a human being as possible. Shouldn’t ATP hire a full time ‘grooming and attire specialist’ to showcase a more civilised face of tennis to the world? Didn’t NBA mandate that all players wear a jacket and pants on the court, instead of that rap crap outfit?

How about an etiquette specialist to point out the obvious infractions like not performing a colonoscopy out on the court in the middle of a match, or not shouting and screaming at the fans who pay your wages, or not cussing on the court, or not changing panties in full view of the camera broadcasting to viewers worldwide?

Shouldn’t there be a class for parents too?

You believe reason for Blake dropping out of Davis Cup? I don’t.

Posted by tennisplanet on September 15, 2008

“James is just physically and mentally exhausted after a gruelling summer,” read a McEnroe statement. “He said he needed a break and we respect that.”

Here’s the real reason: You are washed up and old and have done diddly squat on clay ever in your mediocre life. You have been given enough opportunities to make something of your sorry career with no avail. How long did you want us to wait for you? You are 29 years old for crying out loud!!!!

Additionally we have a new weird looking 20-year old force on the tour who also happens to be an American. In just his second year on the tour, he reached the quarterfinals on clay at Monte Carlo, losing to Djokovic. He also reached the fourth round at the US Open losing to Nadal in four close sets.

You think that would qualify as ample evidence to kick you out once and for all? You bet!!!!
