Can someone explain to me why Federer wouldn’t……

Posted by tennisplanet on July 1, 2010

………….watch the freaking Wimbledon final? For rock people, in his interview after losing to Berdych he said he won’t watch the finals because he will be on vacation. Really?

Shouldn’t he be the FIRST one to be watching it now that he has been eliminated this early and the game has literally changed like overnight?

Or is this your way of ruining the TV ratings just because you were not allowed to play in the finals? It’s three freaking hours – on a Sunfreakingday. If you have more important things to do than this – on a vacation – given the circumstances…………..

all of them say that.Usually whwn asked they say they have no interest in who plays. Not gracious at all. But since tennis is a job you have to shut it off when it is over and get on with something else. Almost al of us try to forget it whwn we come home after the workday is over

Come on, we all know Federer is going to watch! He and other’s talk about how he keeps up on everything about tennis – even watches the juniors to see the up and coming! No, I have no doubt Federer will be watching on Sunday.Tennis is Federer’s life and he’s not going to watch Wimbledon? Federer might watch just to see if one of his commercials are on! 🙂 🙂

Interesting, Daril Cahill (The Australian guy) predicted Federer would lose and today he talked about how Federer will get healthy and come back strong and play some great tennis again.

I’m inclined to agree with Stella in that it’s a job and off duty one does have to distance and get on with other things if one isn’t directly involved which he isn’t. I really do think Fed is up to speed as to how the game is progressing these days, he just couldn’t play his game effectively against Berdych. LOL On the other hand, he may well have a look as Claire suggests, I guess it all depends on what he and the family have planned.

Give the Federer bashing at any opportunity a rest TP, it’s getting really boring.

Yeah, I agree. It’s ridiculous, the guy can’t even decide what he wants to do on his vacation without getting criticised for it.

TP, you’re starting to sound lousy here. In all my 3 years on this site, I’ve never been pissed at you.
I read the red warning in capital letters when I decided to join the TP-club and knew what to expect.
But your deliberate misquote of Fed’s presser yesterday was just disappointing for someone like you, who I know, is no idiot. I expect that from some members of the media, but not from you.

lol he can’t help it, this is what he does best.

He might watch the highlights. Good enough for me : )

He will watch because he wants to see how to deal with Berd or Rafa if he were to meet them at USO or before in Montreal or Cincy. I bet he wants to win some in the remaining part of the year.

Whether Roger will watch the Wimby final or not, I wish him and his family a wonderful relaxing Holiday 😉

Federer is injured, simple. At AO. he was at his best, he was gone ever since. This is chance for Nadal to chase some legacy, and chance for Murray to try to take over, and chance for Berdych to grab glory. Djokovic, who looks like to have become a 5 round guy, almost automatically loses at semifinals, seems limited by his body strength and health.

Um, obviously, cuz it’s too painful? I mean, he *should* watch because it would be instructive, but I’d understand if he’d want to bury his head as far under a pillow as possible.

Well, I’m hoping he’ll be doing whatever’s necessary to heal his injuries.

I do remember an interview with Rafa where he talked about watching Roger’s AO final (where Roger won) when he, Rafa, was out with his foot injury.
(IINM, I think it was 2006.)

Let’s all take a long, deep breath and give Fed a break. Whether he
was ungracious, really hurt, totally disappointed, etc., is “water under the bridge.” He has to regroup and reassess and recoup, if he is injured. TP must be delirious, as he has waited all this time to
pile on. Fed will be back and perhaps a little more aware of how he
handled this situation. We can only support and hope he will be okay.

Well said Vue. I’m confident he will be back to winning ways by the end of the year. Gotta give the guy a break. See TP, Federer’s away on a 2-week vacation. How about you too go on a 2-week vacation from writing about federer? In the meantime, you could whale away on Djokovic and Murray and throw in bits of Nadal.

“In the meantime, you could whale away on Djokovic and Murray and throw in bits of Nadal”

Lol, Sir. You really think TP can do that?

Do you hang out at your job watching your co-workers/advesaries on your day off?

    Why should Federer?

  10. Ricke said

I really don’t care if Roger watches the final or not. The real concern is how bad is the injury and what is he going to change to stay competitive? Lose weight like Roddick, hardly! How about a COACH? YES!!!! Make a change Roger, what can it hurt?

    • Jenny said

I agree, Ricke. Roger has to concentrate on getting fit first, build on his training and then I’m sure other things will gradually fall into place.
