I love Andre, he’s an awesome, down-to-earth, smart guy. I wish he were commentating more often. It’s been really tiring listening to JMac lately…Andre is a breath of fresh air.

Steffi is such a lucky girl.

I’ve always loved Agassi, right from the start. It was fun to see him arrive, watch his rise, then his struggles. Then came the heartbreak period when he fell out of view… But when he remade himself, claimed the French in 1999 announcing his return to serious tennis, and went on to reclaim the number one spot at 29 years old – it was a fan’s dream come true…
Long-time Agassi fans got a great fantastic ride! In the end, the man gave us everything he had. Andre will always be one of the greats for me.

Gracie – do you remember the match against Becker? I pretty much cried from the beginning of the last set straight through to the end of the ovation following his speech.

M, yeah I cried too. Feeling sorry for myself about not getting to see Andre play anymore. Heh. No, seriously, he received a well-deserved ovation on his ‘home’ court in the US, after a long career in which he wore his heart on his sleeve and gave more back to his fans than almost any player I can name.

Agassi is truly one of the greatest players, without a doubt, his rare as hen’s teeth career grand slam attests to that …. and Gracie summed him up beautifully when she said, “he wore his heart on his sleeve” in every match. He is one of tennis’s greatest ever ambassadors. Steffi is lucky sure, but so too is Andree, what a class act she was an still is.

His career is one of the most inspiring and impressive and a definite one for the ages, with the promising start, the lull or sabbatical he took and the re-emergence and triumph of dedication and persistence over raw talent and strength. He spoke so thoughtfully, sincerely and eloquently any time a microphone was placed near him. He accepted defeat as graciously as he did victory, acknowledging he did have a few instances of tempestuousness early in his career.

    So great thread
    Gerard
